Bambi stood on her tip toes trying to reach the cookie jar on the counter, she was licking her lips just thinking about the delicious cookies her grandmother made so perfectly.
She had to be quiet though, her grandmother was only in the next room. And Bambi didn't want to get in trouble for having a cookie before dinner.
Bambi reached up and accidentally knocked the spoon off the counter, she heard her grandmother get off the arm chair in the front room "Bambi?" She asked from the doorway
Bambi turned to her blushing furiously the way she always did.
"Were you trying to get a cookie?" Her grandmother asked in her heavy British accent as she walked to Bambi crossing her arms.
Bambi didn't move as she looked up at the tall woman. She looked away and held her hands behind her back bashfully as she twisted her foot around.
Her grandmother looked down at the small 6 year old almost scoldingly, then she chuckled.
Bambi looked up at her a little surprised. Her grandma took the jar off the counter and bent down to Bambi as she took the lid off the jar.
"Alright JUST this once" the woman smiled fondly at her.
Bambi stood there a few seconds obviously in shock. She quickly reached her hand in and took a cookie out nibbling on it.
Her grandma chuckled once more as she set the lid back on the jar and replaced it on the counter. She patted Bambi's head and began walking back into the front room, but she stopped in the doorway. "I bet Spongebob's on.."
All of Bambi's attention was now on her, her grandmother laughed and nodded pointing into the living room "Come on dear"
Bambi quickly hoped after her into the living room.
"Bambi sweetheart can you come help me get this?" Bambi's grandmother called to her, Bambi ran down the stairs immediately. Her grandma pointed to the cupboard "the sugar please"
Bambi nodded and opened the cupboard up pulling the sugar out and setting it on the counter.
"Ah, love, would you like to help me with the cookies?"
Bambi nodded vigorously. "Swell" Her grandmother smiled "Um Bambi can you be a dear and push me over to the counter?? My arms are a bit tired"
Bambi nodded again returning the smile as she pushed the wheelchair over the the isle. She kissed her grandmother's forehead and went to the sink to wash her hands.
"Oh, so I saw you walking with a boy this morning..Who was he?" Her grandma asked chuckling
Bambi's face turned red in an instant as she took the flour out of the cupboard and shook her head. She looked back at her grandma with a weak smile.
"Oh you don't want to tell me now? Is that is?" she said with a low laugh
Bambi didn't respond with any motion. She just continued to blush.
Bambi cried into Axel's chest, he stroked her hair gently. "Shh i'm here" he whispered.
Bambi continued crying listening to his heartbeat, he had his arms wrapped around her as he held her in his lap.
Axel kissed the top of her head and laid his cheek where he had just kissed as if to let it sink in.
Bambi gripped onto his shirt as the tears flowed out of her eyes. Axel hated seeing her like this "She's in a better place now" he whispered
Bambi nodded slightly but the tears wouldn't stop. Axel smiled slightly, "I know what will cheer you up...." Bambi looked up at him blinking a tear out of her eye. Axel swiped his thumb across her cheek wiping the others away "we have cookies downstairs....."
Bambi thought for a second and reached her hand out shaking her wrist in a motion like it's too far.
Axel chuckled and nodded "I got you" he got up and kissed her forehead "I'll be right back" he ran downstairs
He came back upstairs carrying a large jar. He looked over at his bed, Bambi was tangled up in the blankets. Axel frowned and set the jar on his desk taking a cookie out and holding it in front of her. Bambi opened one eye a little and took it stuffing it in her mouth.
Axel smiled a little and crawled under the blankets next to her. Bambi scooted closer to him stuffing her face into his chest again.
Axel blushed slightly and wrapped his arms around her as a few tears started in her eyes again. She looked up at him as if to say 'Thank you'. Axel kissed a stray tear and gently moved her head back into his chest. "It's okay. I'll still be here as long as you want me to be" Axel whispered into her ear.
Bambi didn't move. She stayed there all night crying into his chest until she fell asleep in his arms.
